Meet The Author

Author Connie Neal

Connie Neal is first and foremost a grateful servant of Jesus Christ. After receiving her BA in Communication from Pepperdine University, she invested ten years as a youth pastor, then began a ministry of speaking and writing in 1989 which continues today.

Connie has written over thirty Christian books and Bible projects. The latest will be released this summer titled: Walking Tall in Babylon: Raising Children to Be Godly and Wise in a Perilous World. Her Bible credits include being General Editor of the Spiritual Renewal Bible (winner of the Evangelical Christian Publisher’s Association Gold Medallion Award for Best Specialty Bible), writer for the Kids’ Devotional Bible (with sales of over 500,000), and contributor for the Women’s Devotional Bible, 2.

Most recently she is widely known for her books: What’s a Christian to Do with Harry Potter? (WaterBrook Press) and The Gospel According to Harry Potter (Westminster John Knox Press). Her signature book is Dancing in the Arms of God (Zondervan Publishers) and she teamed up with her daughter (and Illustrator), Casey, to create a Young Women of Faith girl’s journal (ages 8-12) entitled Hey! This is Me!

As a collaborator, Connie has written books with Bill and Lyndi McCartney (Promise Keepers), Dave and Jan Dravecky (Outreach of Hope), Stephen Arterburn (New Life) Dr. Dave Stoop, and Pastor Chip Ingram.

On TV, Connie has been featured on The 700 Club, At Home Live!, PBS Religion & Ethics NewsWeekly, MSNBC Alan Keyes is Making Sense, Good Day Sacramento, , FamilyNet At Home Live!, Life Today with James & Betty Robison, On Main Street! and other national and regional television shows.

In print media, Connie has been cited in, written for, or interviewed by Time Magazine, Newsweek, Christianity Today, USA Today, Today’s Christian Woman, U.S. Catholic, The New York Times (Religion Page), MSNBC.com, TheEarlyShow.com, Reuters, Religion News Wire Service, YouthWorker Journal, Evangelizing Today’s Child, Children’s Pastor Magazine, Publisher’s Weekly, Decision, and newspapers across the country and worldwide.

She has been a featured guest on nationally syndicated radio shows including: The Dennis Prager Show, FamilyLife Radio (where the topic of Wizards, Hobbits, and Harry Potter was so widely requested it was included in the FamilyLife Resource catalog as a CD), Decision Today (Billy Graham Evangelistic Assoc.), Beverly LaHaye Live (Concerned Women for America), Janet Parshall’s America, Moody Radio Network Mid-Day Connection, numerous local stations in the USA as well as radio interviews in New Zealand, Ireland, and London.

As a conference speaker, Connie toured with Women of Faith, speaking to over 150,000 women in 1998. She has also spoken for the International Network of Children’s Ministry, Children’s Ministry Magazine Live!, Association of Christian Schools Intl. Conferences, guest speaker for women’s retreat / events, church events for children and parents on pop culture / Harry Potter, and colleges.

Connie’s credibility comes not only from her professional credits but also from life experience in marriage, raising three children (ages 18, 13, and 12) and almost three decades of communicating God’s truths to adults, youth, and children in creative and memorable ways.

Her emerging brand of resources revolve around being a Bible teacher and Christian mother who communicates the Bible faithfully in a way that is simple and easy to understand. Her current focus is to empower, equip, and encourage parents to pass on God’s Word to their children in a way kids eagerly receive -- and parents enjoy.

Connie and her husband, Patrick have been married since 1979.
